ROLAND W. GAGNE Roland W. Gagne of Nashua, died Tuesday morning, August 13, 2013 after a long illness at the age of 83. Born in Nashua, NH on January 22, 1930 he was the youngest of eleven children born to Napoleon and Marie Anne (Briand) Gagne. Roland was deeply devoted to his wife Marlene (Heileman) Gagne, with whom he celebrated 58 years of marriage and raised four children. Leading by quiet example, he taught his children the importance of family, the value of hard work, and how to be a good parent. Despite working long hours, two-week family vacations were annual and memorable events, whether camping on Prince Edward Island or renting a cabin on Lake Winnipesaukee. Mr. Gagne was trained as a machinist and millwright, and enjoyed working with his hands in his spare time, becoming a skilled furniture maker, maintaining a productive vegetable garden, and helping his children complete innumerable household projects. Roland will be forever loved and missed by his wife Marlene; his children Douglas and his wife Kathy; Kimberly, Kristina, and Greg and his wife Pat Duvernay; his grandchildren, Nate, Emily, Andrew, Will, Ben, Ryan, Tom and Jay; great-grandchildren, Liam and Sydney; and his sister, Claire G. Ricard. Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Friday afternoon, August 16th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua, Saturday, August 17th at 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at St. Patrick Cemetery in Hudson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, 25 Walker Street, Concord, NH 03301 or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE. (603) 882-0591.
